Default changing an older office file to a readable Vista file?

jpg is a (scanned) image of the form. Open it with Windows Picture and Fax
viewer or some other graphical application like Paint and print it from
there.

First, never open an attachment to be edited in Word directly from an
email; save it to your hard drive first.

Second, what format is the attachment? If it's a pdf, you can't open
it in Word anyway, only in Adobe Reader.

I received an email (on my new computer) with an attached form to
fill out. It only opens in an unreadable code. How can I open it. I
have word 2003 with Vista Home Premium .
