Indeed, sometimes we just make those annoying mistakes! :-)
-- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Hans" wrote: Stefan, I did a Dumb Thing: I *almost always* use Heading 7 for appendices. Except on this new template, I forgot that I'm now using Heading 9! So everything was working as designed, except for the guy at the keyboard. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my inquiry, -Hans "Stefan Blom" wrote: Just to clarify: you are saying that you have changed the options and *inserted* a TOC, which then doesn't "behave"? What is the field code for this TOC? Display field codes by pressing Alt+F9. Your TOC should display similar to the following: { TOC \o "1-3" \t "Heading 7,1" \h } The \t switch ensures that Heading 7 paragraphs are formatted as level 1 entries in the table of contents. Note that there is no way to save the choices made in the TOC Options dialog box for future documents; what you can do is insert a TOC field and save *that* in a template. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Hans" wrote: I have a template whose headings are driven by Word's Heading styles. In the TOC, I need corresponding items for Heading 1, 2, 3, AND 7. In the TOC Options dialog box, I have selected TOC styles 1, 2, & 3 to correspond with Headings 1, 2 & 3, and I've selected Heading 7 style to correspond to TOC 1 style. The TOC does NOT include the Heading 7 items. What's wrong? Thanks... |
