Default Setting default path for files in MS Word

The default location for documents is that which Word selects when opened
from the start menu/desktop icon. After that the last used folder is
retained until Word is restarted.

I am using MS Wrod 2003 on XP. I was earlier able to modify default
path for storing and retrieving documents in Word thru following
steps. Tools-Optioons
Select 'File Locations' tab
Select 'Dcouments' under file types
Click on Modify... button
Set the new path. It is saving and showing the path. But however when
I go to save or open a file, it is not showing the modified path!
