How do I disable "repaginating"?
Just got new laptop with Windows 7. Working in a very large file (12,000
pages, all text) and everytime I cut and paste anything into it the doc freezes while "repaginating" for several minutes to 5, 10, or just locks-up frozen and I have to shut down. Enormously frustrating! Need to work in the large file, though, and had no problems on old computer's microsoft word program (XP, 2003?). The new laptop is powerful (Intel Core2, 320 GB hard drive, 4GB memory, etc.) so thought this wouldn't happen. Anyone -- please help! T.O. |

How do I disable "repaginating"?
If you can work in Normal View (pre-2007) or Draft View (Word2007), it

How do I disable "repaginating"?
Hi,
You need to set the 'View' to 'Normal' or 'Outline', then go to Tools|Options|General and uncheck 'background repagination'. You cannot switch off 'background repagination' for the 'Print Layout' or 'Web Layout' views. A 12,000 page document suggests a lot of eggs in one basket. Good luck.
