Default Remove black line that appears after I do (center) ***

Hi all. Whenever I do [center] *** to separate one text entry from another. I
get a black line of small black squares crossing the page. Occasionally I can
remove it by backspacing, l but lately this hasn't worked. Does anyone have
a remedy? Many thanks! thierry
