I'm trying to create a set of documentation for a project and it requires the
inclusion of several Excel files. In order to have one singel document can
that document be a Word document with the Excell files included and
launchable when clicked on? I have tried taking some of the details (From A
Lotus Notes EMAIL) which has the Excel file at the bottom of a bunch of
text but the resulting insert into a WORD document is all thetext and an ICON
for the file.....

You can insert the Excel file as an OLE object. Make use of the Create from
File tab of the Object dialog box. Be sure to choose "Link to file" and
"Display as icon" in the Object dialog box.

To display the Object dialog box:

- Click Insert | Object. (Word 97-2003).

- Click the Insert tab on the ribbon, and then click Object (in the Text
group). (Word 2007).

In the Word document, have the cursor where you want the icon to be.
Insert, Object, Create from File, check the box Display as Icon, uncheck
Link to File, then use the Browse button to find the Excel file you want.
Tip: once the file name is in the File Name box, I usually delete the file
root/directory information, but do not edit the filename itself.
This is because the icon displayed in Word does not have much room to show
all that information. If you do edit the filename, Word will not find the
file and you will have an error.
If you have 2007 the instructions may differ slightly but the principle is
the same.
