Also make sure that none of the rows except the top row(s) in the top table
are designated as heading rows. -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA http://word.mvps.org "gary" wrote in message ... I have the same problem. I have checked: 1. wrap not set 2. table width the same 3. table position on page (eg indent, left margin) is the same The symptom of the problem is that the line where the two tables meet is wavy instead of being straight Happy New Year/gary "RoxSn" wrote: Neither of these worked for me in Word 2007 but I did get it to work by "cutting" the table that would not merge, add a row to the table I want the rows to add into, and "paste rows" in front of that last new row. This was very frustrating because the tables would NOT merge with all settings the same, no formatting, no wrapping, nothing I did worked except this. Maybe this will help someone else struggling with this problem. "Stefan Blom" wrote: Make sure that both tables have "Text wrapping" set to "None" (in Table | Table Properties, Table tab) before trying to delete the paragraph mark between them. You may also want to press the ¶ button on the Standard toolbar to display paragraph marks (¶); this makes the deletion easier, since you can see what you are doing. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Jen" wrote in message ... And how is it done then? Because I am not able to do it in Word 2003 like I was able to do it in Word 2000. Very unhelpful. "Doug Robbins - Word MVP" wrote: It certainly can be done in Word 2003. I don't know what you are talking about. -- Hope this helps. Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my services on a paid consulting basis. Doug Robbins - Word MVP "Gail" wrote in message ... In Word2002, users can join, merge, append two adjoining tables by simply deleting the paragraph mark between them. In Word2003 this cannot be done - at least using the normal "table management" tools a regular Word table user has developed. Please restore this capability to future versions of Word. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
