I would try the other approach to merging from Outlook contacts: in
Outlook, select the contacts you need, then go to Outlook Tools-Mail Merge... and take it from there. If you already have merge fields inserted in your mail merge main document, you /may/ need to change some of them because the names of the fields can differ depending on which approach you use.
