Thanks, everyone. My best guess is that his keyboard was sticking. (He
has an HP Pavilion notebook, which are notorious for that.) Even holding SHIFT can cause the CNTRL key to stick. Later he mentioned other adverse and unexpected actions that can also be executed with a CNTRL+letter keystroke. I think that was a dead giveaway of the culprit. Since he's getting a new laptop this week anyway (and it's not an HP) I'm certain the issue will not resurface. -Mel On Jan 14, 9:53*pm, "Suzanne S.
