To update the FILENAME field automatically, you would have to make use of an
auto macro; see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832897/en-us ("The FILENAME field does not automatically update when you open a document in Word"). Note, however, that you can quickly force an update by switching to Print Preview and then back to your favorite view; you can use Ctrl+F2 for this purpose (acts as a toggle). -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Bernie" wrote in message ...
