I have a user that is creating a test. He wants to scramble the test. He cuts
questions 56 to 60 and pastes them in front of question 1. The list is then numbered 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 1, 2, 3.... He then does the "Merge with List" thin in the paste clip thing and it renumbers the list, except it renumbers it 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 2, 3, 4... This is in Office 2007, the process worked right in previous versions, any ideas?? TIA Jim |

Click the number 2 (the second "copy" that is) to select it. Then
right-click and choose Continue Numbering from the context menu. Note, however, that it will be easier to use a numbered paragraph style; that way, numbering will always be continuous for all items using that style. For example, you can use the built-in List Number style. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Jim at SDSU" wrote in message ... I have a user that is creating a test. He wants to scramble the test. Thanks for the answer, but I tried that and the dropdown Autocorrect Options thingie appears reading "Reset Number", but the number stays as 2. The only thing I see happening when I right click the "Continue Numbering" is the cursor jumps from the "2" to the beginning of the text. |

Strange. For some reason, Word seems unable to combine the lists into one.
You would probably have more luck applying the List Number style to text, which was my second suggestion in my previous message. Note that you can modify the style to suit your needs. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Jim at SDSU" wrote in message ... You could try copying the format of a previous list item (select it and press
Ctrl+Shift+C) and then paste it to the problem list items (select them and press Ctrl+Shift+V); then the list should continue properly. Having said that, I'd like to repeat that using a numbered style would be easier and safer. :-) -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Jim at SDSU" wrote: "Stefan Blom" wrote: Click the number 2 (the second "copy" that is) to select it.
