Word always creates temporary files. It seems that the file in question may
be Word's document lock file. That file should be closed when you close the document.- see http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm . Beyond that ignore it, You can choose from Windows Explorer whether to display normally hidden files or not. The default is to hide them, but it is better to see what files are being created. From any file operations dialog in Word right click and chose Arrange Icons By Name - or select Details view and click the header of the Name column to present the files in name order. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org "Lisa" wrote in message ... Hi, sorry if this has already been posted but i'm not sure how to use this! Recently, when saving files in Word, it's also saving a 'ghosted out' temp file. If i delete it, it deletes the original copy as well. Can anyone tell me why this has just started happening and how i stop it please. Also, again recently, in my word folders, my files will not save in alphabetical nor numerical order anymore. However, when my colleagues go into the same folders, they don't have any saved temp files and everything is nicely filed in order. I would really appreciate any help or suggestions please as it's driving me up the wall! -- Many thanks, Lisa |
