I have a customized template in Word 2003 with a few different options, e.g.
margins. We then use Office Automation to open a new document using that template, suck in html that is all formatted with tables, and save as a Word 2003 document. I have upgraded to Word 2007. I copied normal.dot from above and saved as a Word 2007 template. We do the same process as above and the document has more spacing in the tables than with Word 2003. A typial one page document is about 1 inch longer in 2007 than it was in 2003. I have made sure the 'Don't add space between paragraphs fo the same style' check is is UNchecked. Default spacing for the tables is the same in both templates. Can anyone provide some direction on why this happens? Thank you, -- Ken |

Are you using the same printer driver with both versions of Word?

No I am not. I am doing this on two separate machines:
1 - Windows Vista Business - Word 2007 2 - Windows Server 2003 - Word 2003 Both printing to the same printer. Would the print driver make that much of a difference in formatting? Can Office 2007 be installed on the same machine as Office 2003 with no conflicts? -- Ken "Stefan Blom" wrote: Are you using the same printer driver with both versions of Word? -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Ken" wrote in message ... Printer drivers can make a difference, yes. See http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/TextReflow.htm.
You can have both Office 2007 and Office 2003 on the same machine, but see the "Hacking the Registry" section in the article at http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Ken" wrote in message ... Thank you for the information. I'll load both versions on the same machine

I have loaded Word 2007 on the Windows 2003 Server and tested the printing.
The document is still formatted different than when I use Word 2003 on the same machine with the same printer. I have read the document posted in your reply and tried those settings. Still no changes. It seems that no matter what I do in Word 2007 the document still prints the same. Can you provide any other ideas? Well, since you are looking at the same file in Word 2003 and also in Word 2007 on the same machine and there is still a difference in display and printout, there must be some sort of difference between the two versions (in the way they interpret printer driver information for example). Sorry, I can't explain this. :-(
