I have been using Word for ever, and style sheets likewise, and as far as I can tell, there is a problem with the style sheets that rolls over from one version of Word to another and has never been fixed - or maybe there is a way to fix it and I simply don't know.
Here's the problem: for reasons that I cannot fathom out, nor do I know what triggers it, style sheets lose a portion of the instructions. It always affects exactly two things: 1. indentation size. Both the 'before text' tab and the 'special tab'. The latter always reverts to 0.25. The former, typically to 0.55, but sometimes to other things. 2. numbering. If you have a style sheet that specifies numbering, it will simply be lost - it will revert to no numbering. other things, including alignment, spacing, line spacing, tabs etc. are stable. Thoughts, anybody??? also, is there a possibility of getting a new group specifically for style sheets? |

Are you copying styles between files in Word? Note that you may have to copy
*numbered* styles repeatedly (up to three times) for numbering to be correct. Actually, instead of bringing numbered styles A and B from document X to document Y, you may find it easier to bring text into (a copy of) document X. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP --------------------------------------------- "Tigah" wrote in message ...
