Default re-installing microsoft word 2000

I have a microft XP edition computer with microsoft 2000 on it. my children
crashed the computer to i had to re-install the computer with a recovery
disk. the problem is now my microsoft word is not working and i dont have a
serial number. does anyone have any advice? the computer is fairly new but
since we moved we lost the covers and packaging.
