Default tables and rows

when adding a new row to a table, is it possible that the content of its
first cell to automatically become "the content of the first cell of the
preciding row + 1"?

Do you want each cell in the first column to contain a number only? In that
case, apply a _numbered_ style to the first cell - and do not use the same
style elsewhere in the table. When you add a new row, each cell in the new
row will inherit the style of the first paragraph in the cell above. This
way, the first cell will automatically be numbered and the numbers will be
sequential.

See http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/ApplyAStyle.html. To get
numbered paragraph, you should apply the List Number style.

For more about styles, see also

You should still read about Styles - unless you plan to never use Word
again. Much better to know what's going on and work smoothly than to
simply collect answers to problems caused by a lack of understanding.
