so ive selected the text and want to apply bullets, yet when I do this a
bullet will appear at the top of the page at the first line of text... and
the text I want bulletd in indented.

also if I select text to center, all the text on the page centers

any suggestions?

Most likely what appear to be several paragraphs are really only a single
paragraph (this is especially likely if the text was pasted from the Web).
Display nonprinting characters (Ctrl+*) so you can see what you're dealing
with, and you'll probably see that you have line breaks where you expect
paragraph breaks. For treatment, see
