Can the Mozilla Thunderbird E-mail Application Version 2.0.0.9 be used to
perform an e-mail mail merge in Word 2003? All of the instructions discuss
using Outlook but there is a note that states:

Note Your system must include a MAPI (MAPI: The Microsoft interface
specification that allows different messaging and workgroup applications
(including e-mail, voice mail, and fax) to work through a single
client.)-compatible e-mail program, such as Microsoft Outlook.

Is Mozilla Thunderbird compatible? Thank you for any information you can
provide.

Thunderbird supports simple MAPI, but it is buggy.

There is some specific information about its use for mail merge at:

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mail_merge

but it talks about using OpenOffice rather than Word.
