Default Set width of table

I am creating a template in Word 2003.
When users create a new document using this
template, and insert a table, I want the table width
to be 17cm - a specific width. I have alter the 'Table
Professional' style for the formatting / look, but I am
unable to set the width! Any suggestions?
Thanks so long :-) !

Have you considered creating an AutoText entry which includes a table,
formatted the way you want it?

Thank you for your reply Stefan €“ I have actually used an Autotext entry, but
thought that is crooking - I don't know the 'correct' way!
Am I correct though, in assuming that you cannot set the width by modifying
the style? That option is grayed out.

Thanks again!
Regards, Leon

I'm not that familiar with table styles, so I don't know if they
support sizing. Your experience suggests that they don't.

Since table styles are buggy (see for example the thread titled "Table
AutoFormats vs. Table Styles confusion" in this newsgroup), it's
probably wiser to use an AutoText entry, anyway.
