Default delete the first five characters to printed from a merge field

I have created some forms using mailmerge fields to input data. There is one
field where I would like to be able to remove the first five characters
before printing the data. Is there a way to do this?

The best place to manipulate the data is in the datasource before executing
the merge. There is however no built-in way of doing it. A macro is your
best bet.
