I have any employee at our company who claims Word 2003 Pro is extremely slow
opening word docs. This occurs whether accessing a doc on the local machine
or one stored on a remote LAN machine. He has 512 MB of RAM on a fairly
modern desktop (not sure of exact proc) and does not multitask with several
resource-hogging apps open at once. He has completely uninstalled Office 2003
Pro, defragged the hard disk, and re-installed Office only to find a very
slight improvement (file open time went from 1 minute to approx. 30 sec). No
once else appears to have this problem and he does not have it at home. The
workstation runs updated Symantec AV daily.

Any help greatly appreciated!

If he has any mapped network drives whose targets aren't available, delete
those mappings.
