You could use a StyleRef field.

The answer depends (in part) on how you have entered the date into your
document initially, but the usual approach is to use a cross-reference - also known as a REF field. The process is described fairly well in the Word help; however, please be aware that you may need to perform some additional action to ensure that the cross-reference in the header is updated. One approach is to ensure that Word is configured to update fields on printing, and then to simply Print Preview the document. Various macro solutions may also be used. -- Cheers!
