Default Opening files

I received a file (Binder Template.doc) which is for a group presentation. I
typed in my information and saved it (actually I saved it 3 times). Now I
can't open it. I get the message
"Word is unable to read this document. It may be corrupt."

One file I could believe, but 3? Any suggestions?

Thank you very much.

Did you receive the file as an email attachment? Did you save it to the HD
before editing? If not, you saved it in a temporary location, where it is no
longer available.
