Default Formatting numbers in MM

I cannot get my numbers from Excel to merge correctly into my letter. Some
of the numbers have .00000000. I searched and tried to do the
tools/options/general, "confirm file conversion at opening" but did not have
that option. Tried different formats - what can I do to get amounts that are
$xxx.xx into my letter

Hi Cheri,

You need to add a formatting switch to the mergefield. To do this:
.. Select the mergefield and press Shift-F9. You should see something like '{MEZRGEfIELD Amount}'
.. Add a numeric picture switch to the end of the mergefield, thus: '{MEZRGEfIELD Amount \# $,0.00}'
.. Press F9 to update the field
.. Run your mailmerge
