Default The pdfmaker in Word 2003 has disappeared and I can't find it.

The pdfmaker was in Word 2003 but all of a sudden it has disappeared. It is
still available in Excel 2003. I have re-loaded Adobe Acrobat Professional
6.0 and Office 2003 but to no avail.

A few things to check:
1. Make sure the PDFMAKER.DOT and PDFMAKERA.DOT files are in
your Word 2003 startup folder. In Word, click on Tools | Options
| File Locations, to see where your startup folder is.
2. In Word, click on Tools | Macro | Security | Security
Level. If your macro security level is set to High, then either
change the security level to Medium, or add Adobe to the list of
trusted sources. See
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...356731033.aspx
"Modify the list of trusted publishers for macros" for more
information on how to do the latter.
3. In Word, click on Tools | Templates and Add-ins... under
"Global templates and add-ins", is PDFMaker.dot listed as a
choice, and is it checked?
4. In Word, click on View | Toolbars... is PDFMaker listed as
a choice, and is it checked?

Option #3 fixed the problem. Thank you!

Thank you so much - I also had tried a variety of uninstall/reinstall, looked
for plugins, etc. After almost tearing my hair out, I tried the user groups
and found this post. #3 also worked for me.

Thanks again!

Glad to hear it, and thanks for the feedback. :-)

Default The pdfmaker in Word 2003 has disappeared and I can't find it.

The same thing has happened to me, but NONE of the four options works.

(Adobe planted toolbars in every software package that have "stuck" except
for MS Word, where they disappear every 2-3 weeks. Usually, a clean
re-install has helped, but not this time.)

I deleted Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional (Education) with 7.05 and 7.07
updates, did DiskCheck and Defrag, re-install 7.0 only. Same problem.
Actually, I've done this three times. Yes, I'm frustrated.

I've also done a "detect and repair" within MS Word when Adobe was present
and when it was deleted. This didn't help.

OS = Windows XP Pro, w/all updates (very new computer w/dual core processors)

MS Word from 2003 Office Professional

1. PDFMaker.dot and PDFMakerA did not install.

2. Security level was already set at "low" for another software package.

3. PDFMaker.dot is NOT listed as a choice.

4. PDFMaker is NOT listed as a choice.

What do I do now? What else should I look at?

HELP!!!

Thank you,
Julie

If you actually read the original question, you would see that it
pertains to Acrobat 6. It doesn't surprise me that my
suggestions didn't work for you because you have Acrobat 7, for
which the instructions at
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/330984.html would be more
applicable.

By the way, I suggest that you set Word macro security to Medium,
which displays a warning whenever a macro is encountered from a
source that is not on your list of trusted sources, and you can
choose whether to enable or disable the macro. The Low setting
disables macro virus protection and allows all macros to run
without notice, which leaves your computer vulnerable to macro
viruses.

Thanks!!!! It worked like a charm!!! I spent hours doing the usual
uninstalling and reinstalling game!!! This was incredibly helpful.
