Default installation

i've had word on my pc for a while now, but recently i went to use it and it
asked for a 20 digit code that is supposed to be on my jewel case, and of
course i do not have that anymore, is there anyway to do this if i dont have
this number?

If your computer is aware of the 20 digit product code (not sure why it
would be asking if it does, though), then a product called Belarc Advisor
will tell you what it is. (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html)

Have you ever entered the code before? If not and you tossed the jewel case
without otherwise noting it, you're out of luck (you could call Microsoft
and explain your circumstances and see if they would do something for you,
but I wouldn't think you'd have much luck).

I think 20 digits indicates it was an OEM version, not retail. Which version
of Office do you have and did it come with your computer?
