Default removed embedded adobe doc

I inherited a 42 page Word doc from another person and am in the process of editing it. I realized that that 11 of those pages are an embedded adobe acrobat document which absolutely refuses to go anywhere! I can not delete or remove it. Help! How do I get rid of this embedded adobe doc that is in my Word doc?

One way would be to copy and paste the balance of the document into a
new document.
