auto text entry disappears
Hi kbradber,
Which AutoText entries are available depends on the setting of the Insert | AutoText AutoText... | tab AutoText | Look in-dropdown list. Set this list to 'All active templates' in order to have all AutoText entries at your disposal. Success, Cooz -- PS: If this is a satisfying answer to your question and you're logged in via the Microsoft site, please click Yes to "Did this post answer the question?". Thanks. I will not know until tomorrow is this advice is useful, because that is when
my auto text entry will disappear. It works the day I enter it, and disappears the next day. Hi kbradber,
That makes sense. Perhaps a log-in script modifies the setting... that may very well be possible. Each AutoText entry is stored in a template, which means that it'll be
in normal.dot, unless you specified a different template as you created it. Note also that each AutoText is placed in a category, based on which paragraph style was applied to the paragraph where it was created. See http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customization/AutoText.htm for more. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "kbradber" wrote in message ... My auto text entry is there one day and disappears the next. Note also that if Acrobat 7 is installed, the Normal.dot template is not
saved. See the last part of http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm -- Suzanne S. Some IT people think it clever to change normal.dot for a new clean one
every time you log in, which will wipe all your settings, but the usual reason for such losses is that indicated by Suzanne - adverse interaction with an add-in (usually Acrobat). Though do note that orphaned temp files after a crash can prevent normal.dot from being saved - http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org kbradber wrote: My auto text entry is there one day and disappears the next. From the FAQ:
28. I can't save my customizations - AutoText, menus, etc. Can't save normal.dot... If you have Adobe Acrobat 7 installed see the last section of http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm. Otherwise, hold down the Shift key when selecting the File menu and select Save All. See also http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331259.html. auto text entry disappears
Thanks for everyone's help. After corresponding on an Adobe forum I found
out all I needed was the more recent Adobe 7.0.5, or actually our IT had 7.0.7 that just came out last month. "kbradber" wrote: My auto text entry is there one day and disappears the next. My IT person reinstalled our 2003 office application but that did not seem to work. |
