1. I compose a resume in Office 2007
2. I email it to recipient who does the hiring
3. Recipient can't open it without "compatibility patch" for older MS Office
versions
4. Recipient moves onto next resume.

THANKS A LOT MICROSOFT. WTF???!!!

A very easy solution is to put your resume in the format that is compatible
with 97-2003 and up. Take some initiative and show that you know something.
All you have to do is go into €śSave As€ť and then click on the Word 97-2003
Document (the third one down) and everyone in the world should be able to
access your resume. Good luck to you.

If you had read anything at all about the new version of Office, you would
have known about the new format and to do a Save As 97-2003 version.

sending in a resume in DOC or DOCX, unless specifically asked for that
format, is nothing I would encourage, for all sorts of reasons. PDF is a
much safer choice ...
