Default How to get a picture to go across adjacent pages in a Word booklet

I am writing a book with about 250 pages. It is a mix of text and pictiures
(ie JPEG's)

I want to have pictures going across adjacent pages in bookfolds (eg across
pages 2 & 3).

How can I do this in Word ? (I can do it in Publisher, but then I can not
control the size of the gutter, which I need to do for bookbinding purposes).

Or is there a better software prodcut than Word or Publisher which I should
be using ?

I would simply cut the picture in half and insert both halves on adjacent
pages.
You can use any of the numerous freeware graphics tools to crop pictures and
re-save them to JPG format.

Hope that helps

I would take a similar approach, but instead I would insert the entire
picture on both pages, left-aligned to the margin on one and right-aligned
on the other, with the excess picture hanging off into the margins. Some
adjustment may be necessary to guarantee that the picture matches in the
center, but this would ensure that the printer will print as much of the
picture as it is capable of so that it extends all the way into the gutter.

Thanks for the sugestions - I was hoping to avoid having to do what you have
come up with, since there will be fifty or more to do. It has been sugested
to me that I should try a DTP like Page Plus, so I will investigate that in
case it gives a simpler solution - but it may bring in other problems !!
Anyway, thanks for the advice.
