Default Odd symbols

Hello all,

I have 2 documents and both have recently developed some strange symbols. One
has a symbol which resembles a large capital I in bold at the beginning of
one particular paragraph of text. The other has brackets in bold [XXXXX]
around certain paragraphs.

I am working in print view and am not showing page layout symbols. A couple
of other people have opened the document that has the bold I but the other
with the brackets has only been worked on by me.

Luckily the symbols do not appear on printed versions or print preview but I
am curious as to what they are - any ideas?

Many thanks

Mark

These are undoubtedly bookmarks. The 'I' will be a single point bookmark,
the square brackets a bookmarked block of text. You no doubt have bookmarks
displayed in tools options view.

G'Day Mark,

They sound like Bookmarks (the I is an empty Bookmark - ][ ).

Try ToolsOptions
View (tab)
Show (section at top)
"Bookmarks" UNCHECK the box.
OK

Well thank you all very much, that's exactly what they were, must have turned
them on by accident!

Thanks again!

Best

Default Font change

Morning,
How do I change the default font in Word? When I use the procedure as indicated in help, the first blank page uses Calibri. I would like all Word documents to open with Times New Roman as the selected default font. How can I accomplish this?
Thanks.

Default Font change

From MSWord 2000 Help file:

If your document already contains text formatted with the properties you want
to use, select that text.

On the Format menu, click Font.

Select the options you want to apply to the default font. If you selected
text in step 1, the properties you want will appear in the dialog box.
For Help on an option, click the question mark , and then click the option.

Click Default.
Any new document you open will use the font settings you selected.
