how to get rid of automatic copy request
Every time I open a file in Microsoft Word 97, a box appears saying
that the file I have opened is being used by me and asks whether I want to make a copy. For example, when I open books.doc, this appears: "c:\books.doc is being used by Nick Bannister. Do you want to make a copy?" How to I stop this happening? |

how to get rid of automatic copy request
The usual reason for this is that there is an "owner" file open that wasn't
properly deleted, perhaps because Word/Windows was not shut down properly. See http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm -- Suzanne S.
