Default "&" will not show in drop down list

When creating a drop down list in Forms, I have noticed when I type in "&" it
does not show and will not print.
What is wrong, How can I repair?

The ampersand in menus and dropdowns is used to indicate the accelerator key
for an item. But see
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Use_Ampers...down_Field.htm for a
workaround.

That was very helpful, thanks, but.
It is now showing up in the drop down but when selected, the "&" is still
missing. there is a space that appears for it.
