Default automatic autonumber successive documents when started through template

Hi

I'm looking for a way to get a number of successive documents that I
want to start in Word to automatically get a new successive number.
So each fresh document when newly opened through a template e.g. should
get a higher number automatically.

Should work a bit like the autodate option there is in Word (alt /
shift / D), but I don't know whether it exists. If not who can help?

Thnx
