Default MS Word 2002 (Office XP Pro) is missing fonts

My completly installed version of MS Word 2002 as part of XP Office Pro is
missing fonts. A friend also using XP Office Pro sent me a Word docment
which has fonts that my MS Word doesn't. So my MS Word makes font
substitutions and the print output is not the same. I have a HP Laserjet
2600n printer and my friends printer is a HP 895CSE. How do I obtain the
missing fonts? Both of us have a fully updated Windows XP operating system
and as mentioned above we are both running completely installed MS Office XP
Pro.

Just because you both have Word 2002 doesn't mean that your friend doesn't
have software that came with fonts that you don't have. You need to find out
which fonts are missing and then see where you can get them. Some may be
available on the web and you may have to buy some.

To avoid the issue, stick with fonts that are included with Office 2002 Pro.

Thanks for the help. Funny, but I am the "administrator" of my friends
computer and I am 99% sure her computer and mine have exactly the same
installed MS Word fonts. However, she apparently has some TrueType fonts
that I don't; even though, as I mentioned, both of our computers have the
completely installed MS Office suite.

Talk to her and find out what's she's installed. She may not even know what
she has tho. Did you look at the list on that MS site to see what comes from
Microsoft and what doesn't?
