Default How can I set a default table format?

I have a standard table type that I need to use in my user documentation. It
doesn't match any of the table autoformats provided. Is there some way that I
can define my table once and then tell Word "Save this as an autoformat".
Then I can simply create the table and apply the autoformat.

Another acceptable option would be if I could right click and select some
option to save the table format as the default table format for the document
(the way you can with autoshapes). Ideally, I'd like to include table formats
within my template documents.

You don't say what version of Word you have; presumably it is not Word 2002
or 2003, both of which allow you to create table styles?

Well, in Word 2000 the best you can do is select an existing Table
AutoFormat and make it the default, and Word 97 doesn't offer even this
feature. Sorry!

Another possibility is to format an "example table" the way you want it and
then save it as an AutoText entry.
