Default merging from excel to word

I am merging from excel to word using mail merge but one of the fields
comes back as 0 if the number has letters .
example 4120 comes in as 4120 but if I put as 4120C it comes in at 0
aslo i have one that is .0075 and it comes in at 7.49999999997e-3 what is
up with that. the field beside it is .023 and it works fine!!!
HELP!!!!

Default merging from excel to word

In this case your best bet is probably to change the way Word connects to
Excel - in Word, check Tools|Options|General|"Confirm conversions at open",
then go through through the process of connecting to Excel again and choose
the "DDE" option when it is offered.

i tried that and nothing happens
I do not get asked DDE option

You should see an extra dialog box after you have selected the .xls file.

(Everyone else does, as far as I know!)
