How to permanently change size of paragraph indent
You cannot set a paragraph indent as "five spaces" (indents are set in
inches, centimeters, or other linear measurement). This specification is a relic of typewriter days, when typewriters mostly had 10 cpi or 12 cpi. It can usually be viewed as being equivalent to half an inch (though that's usually overkill for proportional type). Use Body Text (don't modify Normal) or, better still, Body Text First Indent for your body text and modify the style to have a half-inch first-line indent. -- Suzanne S.
