Why is it when I press enter on my document in word, there seems to be a lag
between the time I press enter and the time it takes for the cursor to
reappear on the next line?
I had microsoft office installed on the same pc, I just upgraded to 2003.
This is real annoying when typing a letter.
Is there a fix for this?

It would indicate a bad add-in that worked with the previous version but
isn't fully compatible with Office 2003. To test for this, start Word in
Safe Mode. From Start, Run type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word now starts in safe mode where all add-ins and
templates are ignored. How does Word respond now? If it is OK, you need to
diagnose the source of the problem. Let us know the result of the test.

I did what you said, and now it seems to work better after leaving
safemode...What happened?

Again, the cursor is dragging in regular mode, how do I diagnose the problem
& fix it?

Either normal.dot is partially corrupt (rename it as normal.old and test
again) or there is a third party add-in (either new or legacy) that is
screwing up Word because it is not fully compatible with this version or
possibly (though less likely) a printer driver conflict. So please check
that you have the latest printer driver from the manufacturers support site
and then delete and reinstall the printer too. In Safe Mode, Word starts in
its default install mode bypassing normal.dot, all other templates and add
ins and any custom macros, etc. As it works OK in Safe Mode, it points to
one of the problems I outlined above.

You now have three threads running that are all caused by the same problem.
Will you please restrict this to ONE thread. This is FREE Newsgroups
supported on a peer-to-peer basis and none of us get paid. Please treat the
groups with respect and not triple the workload.
