Default Why won't spell check add a word?

I've been writing out a word document, and I occasionally type words that I
know are spelled correctly but also know aren't going to be in the Spell
Check diictionary. I've been able to add most, but there are one or two words
that refuse to join the others in the custom dictionary when I click the add
option. Why won't they add?

What are the words? Is "add" not available? Or, do you try to add them, but
they don't really get added?

The option is available. But, when I click it, the red "misspelled word" line
remains.

I had this happen to me recently, and I found that Word had somehow
simultaneously added the word to both my Custom.dic and my exclusion
dictionary (which guaranteed that it would be marked as misspelled. This
actually happened with quite a few words that I added in a given session. Do
you have an exclusion dictionary? If so, check it for the word you just
added and delete it. I have no idea what caused this, but it wasn't repeated
in a new Word session, so I'm holding my breath.

It hadn't repeated for me, either. Maybe it's just a one-time thing.
