Default Office 2000 Query and Autotext

Hi All,

I have created a new template which basically adds autotexts the document
name in the footer.
Well we need to have this for all users and all documents

So to do this I have simply renamed the oold normal and renamed my new
template to normal.dot...well the problem then is that I have not autotext
entries...

what I did next was start again

this time in my new template I copied ovber the autotext entries from normal
to my new template using the organizer.
and then i continued to rename muy normal and rename my new templkate to
normal.dot

this works...well not quite

i now have autotext entries but when i go to view autotext...

my list is simply the header and footer autotext entries with no headre
footer menu item
similarly the other list of autotexts are not there

i.e. Attenion Line
Closing
Header/Footer

etc

HELP

Cheers in advance

Andrew

Only Word can create Normal.dot. Users cannot do so, and you should not try.
Create a specific document template instead. If you insist on putting a
header or footer on Normal.dot (which you can do by opening it directly),
expect problems with labels.

I endorse Suzanne's comments - A document template is the way forward. Note
that not only can you not create normal.dot in the manner you describe, but
this file must not be shared. It is an individual user file. However the
simplest approach would be to spend five minutes instructing your users how
to insert a filename in the footer.
