Default Inserting page numbers in Word 2007?

When I click Header & Footer, then Page Number, and then Top of Page or
Bottom of Page, I don't get any options such as Plain Number 1, Plain Number
2, etc. from which to choose. Instead, I get Save Selection as Page Number
(Top) displayed in gray to the right of the screen. I checked to see if there
were any disabled items in Add-Ins, but everything is enabled.

Any ideas for why I cannot see my page number options?

Possibly your Building Blocks.dotx template is damaged or missing.

First try this: On the Insert ribbon, in the Text group, click the
Quick Parts button and choose Building Blocks Organizer. In the
dialog, click the heading of the Gallery column to sort the entries
according to which gallery they're in. Scroll down. You should see
many entries in the galleries Page Numbers (Top of Page), Page Numbers
(Bottom of Page), and so on. If they aren't there, you need to rebuild
the template that contains them.

You may need to change a setting in Windows Explorer to be able to
find the template. In Explorer's Tools Folder Options View dialog,
make sure "Show hidden folders and files" is checked. Then (with Word
shut down) open the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application
Data\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033

If the Building Blocks.dotx file is there, move it to another folder
and then restart Word. A new copy will be generated in the folder from
the master version in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office12\Document Parts\1033 folder.
