I'm cutting and pasting and reorganizing things...everytime i try to manually
reset the numbering (since i cant figure out how i can set it automatically) it keeps messng up all the letters and numbers! i already have it set every new level to restart after the previous (i.e. nthing for level 1, then level 2 after level 1, etc. (and i got it to 'modify the style to match selection' at the top of that level's list. but here's somewhat wat the outline looks like: (disregard the # of spacebar taps) I.jbjfnakjfkjanfjnajdfnjasdf A.jafjknhgnhjkangjnsdfjkgn;sdflg 1.jnhgkjnskngkjsndfkgn;skfgnsjfg B.jdbfjansjkfnjkandfkjnasdkfn;kasdfnkasd C. mdsfnjkandfjknasdkfnkasdnfnasdf 2.ajkfgnjkanfjgnajksdfnjkandsfjknasdjkfn 3.adjfna;kdfnkadsnfkandfknkadnfknadf II.kndfknas;jkfnjkasndfjnajkdf A. akdfjkasndfkmaskldfmklasdmf 1.mnkfjnaisjnfkmdfkmakdfmklsdf a.kfngknfkmnakdlfmkladmfkmadkfmklsdf j.kjndfklakldfnkasdnfkansdf;kndf and so on. wth! can anybody help me, im going insane. If you want to modify an existing numbering scheme, place the insertion
point in the first top-level paragraph of the list, and then click Home tab | Multilevel List | Define New Multilevel List; this will display a dialog box similar to the Customize Outline Numbered List dialog of Word 97-2003. In the dialog box, you can define all aspects of multilevel numbering. In particular, you may want to associate each level of numbering with a paragraph style, which makes numbering stabler and applying numbering to text easier. See http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html for more. On the other hand, if you are creating a new multilevel list in Word 2007, you should consider setting it up as a list style. Click Home tab | Multilevel List | Define New List Style. Give the list style a name and then set its numbering properties via Format button | Numbering. Again, you should associate each level of numbering with a paragraph style (and, again, see http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html for more). Once created, a list style will appear at Home tab | Multilevel List (under "List Styles"). You can click its icon in order to apply the style to text. However, if you created the list style with paragraph styles attached to every level, it will be easier to apply the appropriate paragraph style directly. More importantly, you can modify a list style by right-clicking its icon and choosing Modify from the context menu. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "sing613" wrote in message ...
