Cannot choose TT font
Word lies to you, trying to protect you from too much complexity. Of course,
all it accomplishes is confusion... If you select Gill Sans MT regular and then apply the ordinary Italic command (Ctrl+I), Word will use the Gill Sans MT Italic font from the TTF file instead of simply "slanting" the regular font. Similarly, if you apply italic and bold, Word will use the Gill Sans MT Bold Italic font. You can prove this to yourself by printing samples of the italic and bold italic from the font viewer in Windows Explorer (double-click the font file, then click the Print button) and comparing them to samples printed from Word. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. mrmike wrote: I am trying to create a document that will be using Gil Sans MT bold and bold italic. I can see them listed in the font folder but when I try to choose them in Word they are not there. There are 7 TT Gil Sans fonts showing but Word is only allowing me to see 5 of them. Of course the 2 I want are the ones missing. Any suggestions? thank you |
