Hi Nancy,

You can unlink it (turn it into text with Ctrl+Shift+F9), and then sort (Table
Sort).
But you can't update that TOC any more, so you'd need to delete it and repeat
the procedure, after you make changes to the headings.

In addition to what Klaus has said, note that an alphabetized table of
contents sounds more like an index. Perhaps that is what you should use?
