Default Single Spacing Default Word 2007

I was hoping there is a way of turning off word 2007 from double spacing
every time i hit the enter key. I have my line breaks set to 1.0 and i have
read that the only way to fix this is to highlight your work area and then
remove paragrah space. I also have tried hitting shift + enter and this will
single space, but getting my users to do this is another issue all in
itself.. I work in a corporate enviroment and could have 500 + potential
users all wanting this fixed. Is there a reg hack a setting something so that
we dont lose our sanity here in the IT Dept .

This was one of the first things I changed, and I *think* it was the space
before or after paragraph. Go to the home tab and the paragraph group. Click
the small arrow at the bottom right and check all settings are 0 and line
spacing at single. Then click on Default. When asked if you wish to apply to
the normal template click Yes. Hope this is the answer as it is a few weeks
ago now since I did it.

Hi Phil:

The spacing is set by the style in use. What is the name of the paragraph
style in use where you are typing, and what are the properties "Space
Before" and "Space After" set to?

The style definitions are all held in the user's Normal template
(Normal.dotm).

Look up "Styles" in the Word Help, then if you need more information, come
back with specific questions.

Cheers

Default Single Spacing Default Word 2007

John, I have tried your suggestion and the suggestion of others in this group
but I still cannot get Word 2007 to set my default line spacing to just one
line and it is driving me nuts. I don't want 1.15 or 1.5 or anything else.
I want my document to space just one line. If I want two lines (like for
another paragraph) I will press the enter key twice. Any ideas or
suggestions?

This really is driving me crazy.

Thanks,

leland

Hi Leland,

Follow these steps:

1. Click the Change Styles button near the right end of the Home
ribbon.

2. In the dropdown from that button, click Style Set. In the flyout
list, select Traditional. That will give you a Normal style with no
space before or after.

3. Click the Change Styles button again and click Set As Default. That
applies your selection to the Normal.dotm template, which is the basis
for new blank documents (unless you choose a different template).

4. The next time you close Word, if you're asked whether to save
changes to the Normal template, say yes.
