Default Opening Linked Word Document Within Browser

We currently have .DOC files set to open word documents with the IE Browser
window. We have noticed if someone has an addin that is located under
c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\templates\xxxxx.dot, when clicking
a word link from within the browser it open Word outside the browser and does
not load the file.

To get around this, we have been having the clients uncheck Tools | Addins |
and whatever addin, then go into the browser window and everything works
fine. Does anyone know why this is happening and how we can get around this?
