Word icon disappeared - Seems to indicate Safe Lock
My brother also has Word 2003. Suddenly his Word icon has disappeared from
his desktop and when he tries to arrange a shortcut from the Programs he is getting an icon which does not seem right. It sounds as if it is a locked icon and is greyed over. I think he must have hit something by accident. He can still get into Word documents he has done but cannot raise a new word document. Can anyone help. I'm sure it must only be something simple. Thankyou Mary Hendrie |

Word icon disappeared - Seems to indicate Safe Lock
Tell your brother to use Windows Find or Search to look for winword.exe
(he'll need to include hidden and system files or folders in the search). When he finds it, he can create a shortcut to that file and put it on his desktop or Quick Launch bar. From the sound of it, he still has Word listed on his Programs menu. Can he open the program from there? -- Suzanne S.
