Default MS Word 2007 spell checker doesn't work!!?

Hi guys,

A few months ago I decided to upgrade from Office XP to MS Office
2007. I purchased MS Office 2007 (through the NHS) and installed it
onto my laptop (Sony Vaio running on XP Pro SP2). Installation was
fine and I didn't experience any problems until I began typing out
documents. The spelling and grammer check just doesn't work! I
installed Office 2007 SP1 and still no joy. I have spent weeks on
Google trying to find a solution! A few days ago I installed Office
2007 Corporate Edition on my Server running 2003 SP2. I am still
getting the same problem. I have tried every solution that has been
suggested on the forums inlcuding the registry fix.

Can anybody help!!!

TIA.

It does seem that 2007 proofing does have a few teething problems.
Possibly the spelling Dictionary DLL might have been disabled in Word.
These steps will check for a Dictionary DLL that has been marked as disabled.
1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options.
2. In the Word Options dialog box, click Add-ins.
3. From the Manage drop-down list choose Disabled Items. Click Go.
Note: Hopefully you see the Dictionary DLL listed here. Thus it is off and
needs turned back on.
4. Click on the english dictionary DLL. Ex: Msspell6.dll or some speller
file.
5. With the DLL selected, click Enable.
6. Close Word.
7. Re-open Word.
The English speller should hopefully now work as expected.
If not check out the Spelling & Grammar forum which has many other "2007
Spelling not working" posts for you to review.

Hi Dean,

I did try that but there isn't anything displayed in Disabled Items!

Any other suggestions?
