Default raise level of only one paragaraph without affecting the rest

In page layout, I have many paragraphes typed in same level. I want to raise
the level of a paragraph in middle, but it changes the level that paragraph
and all succeeding ones. How is it possible to do raise level of only one
paragaraph without affecting the rest?

What version of Word?

Exactly what are you doing to change the level?

If you have "automatically update" checked in the Modify Style dialog for
the style in use, it would explain this behavior--that checkbox makes manual
formatting of one paragraph affect all paragraphs in that style.

See Method I on this page for how to get to the Modify Style dialog and
check this:

Dear Diaya
Thanks for your info. My word is 2002.
What exactly I am planning to do is that I type some head title (in level 1)
below eachother by pushhing enter at end of each. Then I want to type main
body for each. I suppose the main body should be in typed in second level. I
make a blank line and try to change the level to second but whole linebelow
it goes to 2nd and 3rd level.
I haven't read your qoated site, let me reach you again when I read it.

Body text should be Body Text level, not an outline level.

Hi Khoshravan,

Okay, you need to clarify whether you are typing in Outline View, or in Page
Layout View. Also, exactly what steps do you carry out to "change the level
to second"? Be over-detailed.

IF you are using Outline View:
In that case, there is a Demote to Body Text icon (double arrows) that you
should use to change the level for the main text.

This article about how Outline View works may not answer your specific
question but might be useful in other ways:
